De Leon Springs State Park Accessibility Overview

Terrain and Public Areas

  • Sidewalks and Pathways: Sidewalks are made of concrete and are level throughout. Wooden ramps are available to navigate hills. The park also features both paved and unpaved nature trails.
  • Public Areas: Most public areas are accessible. The unpaved nature trail is not recommended for wheelchairs due to uneven, sandy, and rocky terrain.
  • Doors: Building exterior doorways are not automated.
  • Parking: The parking lot is asphalt with designated accessible parking spots located close to activities. Ramps provide access down the hill to the spring.

Activities

  • Trails:
    • One-mile paved trail: Accessible to wheelchairs.
    • Four-mile natural trail: Unpaved and may be difficult to navigate for mobility devices.
  • Docks:
  • Boat Tours:
    • Tours are 50 minutes long.
    • Each tour can accommodate a few manual wheelchairs, but not motorized wheelchairs.
    • Staff assist with boarding.
    • Water levels do not impact accessibility.
  • Boat Rentals: No staff assistance is available for boat rentals.
  • Hiking Tour: The 50-minute guided hike takes place on a paved trail with sections of wooden boardwalk and designated viewing areas. A limited number of wheelchairs can be accommodated per tour.

Food and Dining

  • Dietary Accommodations:
    • Gluten-free pancake batter and muffins are available.
    • Vegan sausage is offered.
    • Peanut butter is served on-site.
    • Staff are trained to handle food allergies when notified in advance.
